New York Alliance and Cornell University are pleased to present a series of three webinars on the important topic of employment! The PART 1: Job Seekers with Disabilities and Employer Engagement: The Diversity Partners Model webinar series includes:

Breaking Down Silos (Jeffrey Tamburo, Training and Content Development Specialist)
WHEN: November 1, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm
It is common knowledge that intra-agency and inter-agency collaboration are key to the health and success of employment service organizations, yet many organizations continue to maintain a “silo mentality” when it comes to collaboration.  Working in silos is a mindset that exists when departments don’t communicate and share information both within an organization and with community partners.  Although working in isolation can seem easier than collaborating at times, the truth is that silos reduce our ability to share knowledge and limit our capacity to work effectively.  “Working in silos” can actually make our work more difficult by failing to take advantage of valuable resources within our organizations and communities.  This webinar will discuss how a lack of cooperation across departments, communities, and systems can impact job seekers with disabilities and relationships with employers.  In addition, the webinar will discuss strategies to overcoming the “silo mentality”.

Inclusive Career Pathways: Breaking Down Barriers to Middle Skills Occupations (Ellice Switzer, Content Development Specialist)
WHEN: November 8, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm
Middle skills occupations require some education or training but not a college degree. The shortage of workers in these occupations represents a growing challenge for many industries, but an opportunity for people with disabilities to find careers in fields that allow them to become financially independent. ‘Career Pathway Initiatives’ are frequently developed to help workers obtain the training and credentials needed for middle skills jobs, but disability inclusion and accessibility is not always considered. This webinar will examine the opportunities created by career pathway initiatives, and provide strategies for including qualified individuals with disabilities.

Businesses Are Our Customers - Doing Business Better Together (Kathleen Lee, Business Outreach Consultant)
WHEN: November 15, 2018 from 1:00-2:30pm
Engaging with business should be a priority for employment service professionals and the organizations they represent to create a pipeline of talent, share ideas and enhance disability inclusion efforts. Collaborative efforts are often developed to solve workforce issues. Understanding your value proposition for enhanced services can help you sustain productive partnerships with businesses and increase employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Businesses should view employment service professionals as fellow business professionals who can help meet their workforce needs and create mutual benefits by working better together for collective impact and increasing diverse and dedicated talent.

This webinar will provide employment service professionals with positive approaches to develop and expand business engagement and effective business practices to address business needs.
