Part 1: November 5 from 10:00-11:30am
Part 2: November 12 from 10:00-11:30am
This training is intended to prepare all non-medical staff for their role in the event they are involved with a medical emergency/situation at their workplace. While the Direct Support Professional (DSP) may be the main person involved, the reality is any staff in an agency that provides services can become part of the telephone triage under the right circumstances in a true medical emergency!
This webinar will review the skills, knowledge and understanding all non-medical staff need in order to recognize potential emergent situations and notify the nurse immediately through telephone triage.
Empowering support staff to help the Triage Nurse expedite care to a resident in a medical emergency/situation in a timely manner is the main goal of this course.
About the Webinar
Participants will understand that:
- telephone triage / management has become an important dimension of ID/DD residential care systems.
- illness and injuries occur when there is no RN physically present to directly assess the person and intervene. At those times, telephone triage becomes a critical link in the care chain.
- it is essential that all support staff have the skills, knowledge and understanding to recognize potential emergent situations and notify the nurse immediately.
Intended Audience: This training is appropriate for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), Frontline Supervisors, Executive/Program Administrators, Educators & Trainers and other Ancillary Staff.
A certificate of attendance can be provided upon request after completing both part 1 and part 2 of this series.
