ABOUT THE TRAINING:
Telephone triage / management has become an important dimension of ID/DD residential care systems. Increased numbers of individuals with ID/DD who have complex healthcare needs now live in community settings.
The Registered Nurse is often at the residence for relatively brief periods of time. Illness and injuries occur when there is no RN physically present to directly assess the person and intervene. At those times, telephone triage becomes a critical link in the care chain.
It is essential that nurses who are responsible for triaging medical/health issue calls from unlicensed assistive personnel have the skills and knowledge to do so safely. Unfortunately, it is a skill that is rarely taught in the RNs basic education.
This training is intended to provide RNs with the tools necessary to assess a situation over the phone, and to provide direction to direct care staff. Register Today!
Participants must attend the entire 3-hour live presentation in order to receive a certificate of attendance.
